The joint-stock company Bratislavská vodárenská spoločnosť (Bratislava Water Company), Prešovská 48, Bratislava was established pursuant to Privatisation Decision No. 853 issued by the Slovak Ministry of National Property Administration and Privatisation dated 02 October 2002, under file no. KM–1306/2002 via a deposit of all the assets of the cancelled state-owned Vodárne a kanalizácie Bratislava (Bratislava Water and Sewer), with registered office at Prešovská 48, Bratislava and a portion of the assets of the cancelled state-owned company Západoslovenské vodárne a kanalizácie (Western Slovak Water and Sewer), with registered office at Trnavská 32, Bratislava – specifically the Bratislava - vidiek facility, the Senica facility, the long-distance production and operating facility in Šamorín and a portion of the company's general directorate pursuant to a privatisation project led under number 2276. The joint-stock company Bratislavská vodárenská spoločnosť assumed the assets and liabilities, rights and obligations (also all unknown obligations) including rights and liabilities from employment matters (apart from the rights pursuant to §16 of Act No. 92/1991 Coll.) from the cancelled state-owned companies.

Bratislavská vodárenská spoločnosť, a. s., operates water mains and sewer networks in the Bratislava Region, a portion of the Trnava Region (Senica and Skalica Districts) and a portion of the Trenčín Region (Myjava District). BVS, a. s., was established pursuant to Privatisation Decision No. 853 issued by the Slovak Ministry of National Property Administration and Privatisation dated 02 October 2002, under file no. KM–1306/2002 via a deposit of all the assets of the cancelled state-owned Vodárne a kanalizácie Bratislava (Bratislava Water and Sewer) and a portion of the assets of the cancelled state-owned company Západoslovenské vodárne a kanalizácie (Western Slovak Water and Sewer). The share capital of the company is divided among 112 shareholders, where a majority of shares (nearly 60%) are owned by the City of Bratislava. In December 2007 one division of BVS was spun off within efforts to improve internal economic relationships and possible expansion into new markets leading to the establishment of a subsidiary, Infra Services, a. s., in which BVS has a 100% share of assets. Infra Services continues on with business activities in the area of securing service activities for water main and sewer networks for its parent company; at the same time it strives to expand its portfolio of activities into closely-related markets and to create new business relationships and opportunities.

Main activities

 

The main business activities of BVS, a. s., are the production of drinking water, supplying drinking water, collecting wastewater, cleaning wastewater as well as executing chemical, technical and lab activities. BVS, a. s., secures the activities through five divisions:

  1. Water Production Division
  2. Water Distribution Division
  3. Wastewater Collection Division
  4. Wastewater Treatment Division
  5. Chemical, Technical and Lab Activity Division


We own and or operate:

  •  173 water sources with total capacity of 6,277 l/s
  • 111 water reservoirs with a total volume of 320 th. m3
  • 241 water pumping stations with total capacity of 18,186 l/s
  • 8 underground water filtering stations with total capacity of 2,158 l/s
  • 23 public sewer networks with a total length of 1,260 km
  • 26 wastewater treatment facilities with a total capacity of 473,876 m3 /day
  • 19 public water mains with a total length of 2,930 km,
